Celebration of $100 Million in RMDZ Loans.CalRecycle ‘Check Your Number’ campaign kick-off event in San Francisco
Should motorists change their vehicle’s oil every 3,000 miles? Not necessarily, since most of today’s vehicles can go 5,000, 7,500 or even 10,000 miles between oil changes. CalRecycle’s “Check Your Number” campaign encourages motorists to follow the manufacturer’s recommendation for oil change interval, thus saving natural resources and money. YouTube (00:01:49) | Transcript (2011)

Agua Mansa Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility Opening 
Under a clear Southern California sky, a large crowd was on hand Oct. 29, 2008 for the dedication of Riverside County’s new Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center. California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) Member Rosalie Mulé, County Supervisor John Tavaglione (left side in photo), and General Manager Hans Kernkamp cut the ribbon to formally open the facility. “Residents of Riverside County should rightly be proud of this new center. You now have a state-of-the-art recycling facility to bring used motor oil, aerosol cans, paint, and sharps and household medical waste,” said Mulé. “The Board, and I, thank you for making the effort to get this facility built and operational.” The center will be open on Saturdays and can process about 200 cars per day. Board Chair Brown Helps Celebrate New State-of-the-Art Recycling Center 
CIWMB Board Chair Margo Reid Brown presented a proclamation to Mary Garaventa at the grand opening celebration of the Mt. Diablo Recycling Center in Pittsburg, Calif. Nov 13, 2008. The 90,000 square foot facility is the newest and largest facility in Northern California and is capable of diverting more than 9,000 tons of solid waste from California landfills each year. The center is a single stream recycling process, residential and commercial customers can place all of their recyclable materials, paper, cans and bottle into one large container and the center will sort, classify, compact, bundle and transport all the materials to their next steps. YouTube (00:02:19) | Transcript

On June 24, 2007, the Angora Fire erupted near beautiful South Lake Tahoe and left behind a devastating 3,100 acres charred and 257 properties destroyed. The California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) was charged with implementing an unprecedented debris removal project. The CIWMB accomplished the clean-up efforts in record time allowing hundreds of residents to quickly rebuild their homes and their lives. Thanks to a partnership of public and nonprofit organizations, a precious jewel of California’s coast is being restored to its natural habitat.
