Overview:
The Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) will hold a public informational session on February 13, 2024 to present the findings of the Senate Bill (SB) 343 Preliminary Findings report to the public and solicit feedback on the preliminary study findings conducted per SB 343 (Allen, Chapter 507, Statutes of 2021). This informational session will include a statutory overview, study methodology, and preliminary findings. CalRecycle will publish the final findings report within sixty days of the public informational session. 

Request for Public Feedback:
The SB 343 Preliminary Findings Report is posted on CalRecycle’s SB 343 webpage so interested parties can review the content in advance. There will be opportunities for interested parties to provide verbal or written feedback during the informational session. CalRecycle requests feedback to be focused on the specific topic being discussed.   

How to Participate in the Informational Session:
CalRecycle will hold the public informational session starting at 1:00 PM on February 13, 2024, to solicit feedback on these topics. The public informational session will be a hybrid in-person and virtual informational session, accessible in person in the Byron Sher Auditorium, 2nd Floor, 1001 I Street, Sacramento, CA 95814. The Byron Sher Auditorium is wheelchair accessible. 

The public informational sessions will also be accessible virtually via Zoom, enabling direct participation, and via Webcast, for observation only. Instructions for how to access the Zoom meeting (registration required) or Webcast (no registration required) are included above.  

Simultaneous Spanish interpretation will be available in-person at the informational session and remotely via Zoom or webcast. For in-person interpretation services, headsets will be available and can be provided by CalRecycle staff prior to or during the informational session. If you need interpretation services in a language other than Spanish, please notify the Department at wastechar@CalRecycle.ca.gov by February 6, 2024, and we will do our best to accommodate your request.  

Important:
Members of the public will be able to submit general comments and responses both in-person and via Zoom. Questions and feedback may also be submitted prior to the informational session and after the informational session has concluded by emailing them to wastechar@CalRecycle.ca.gov with the subject line: SB 343 Preliminary Findings. CalRecycle requests all feedback specific to the SB 343 Preliminary Findings Report is submitted no later than April 2, 2024. Preferred formats include e-mail, Word document, or PDF.
