CalRecycle Funds Cleanup of Illegal Dumping at Farm and Ranch Lands
SACRAMENTO – The California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) has awarded $252,833 in grants to help clean up 18 illegal dumpsites in San Bernardino, Riverside, and Lassen counties through its Farm and Ranch Solid Waste Cleanup and Abatement Grant Program.
Recycling Fraud Suspects Ordered to Pay Nearly $20,000
SACRAMENTO – The California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery will receive $19,980 in restitution from the subjects of a multi-year recycling fraud investigation that stretched from Washington State to Sacramento. The California Attorney General’s Office, which prosecutes cases on behalf of CalRecycle, announced details of the settlement, which included jail time, probation, and restitution payments for those involved.
8 Truck Drivers Busted in Bottle and Can Smuggling Sting
SACRAMENTO – The California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery today announced the arrest of eight truck drivers on charges of felony recycling fraud, conspiracy, and attempted grand theft. Agents with the California Department of Justice’s Recycle Fraud Team made the arrests during a three-day sting operation near the Arizona border with San Bernardino and Riverside counties.
Five Arrested in $80.3 Million Recycling Fraud Conspiracy
SACRAMENTO – The California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery is announcing Grand Jury indictments and subsequent arrests of five people charged with operating a multi-year recycling fraud scheme from the Recycling Services Alliance (RSA) Corporation in Sacramento County. The owner of RSA and four employees are accused of fraudulently processing out-of-state empty beverage containers for California Redemption Value refunds and conspiring to manufacture fraudulent weight tickets to justify state payments and reimbursement claims.
Funding Available for Infrastructure Projects Statewide–Local Governments Invited to Learn More about Available Grants and Loans
SACRAMENTO – The California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) and six other government agencies are hosting a funding fair in April to help local jurisdictions tap available resources for infrastructure projects. Public works and local government representatives are invited to attend the California Financing Coordinating Committee (CFCC) Funding Fair at no cost.
California Counties Find New Use for Old Tires– CalRecycle Funds Local Projects that Utilize 666,000 Recycled Waste Tires
SACRAMENTO–The California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) has awarded $410,364 in grants for civil engineering projects in four counties that will use recycled California waste tires in place of conventional construction materials. California generates an estimated 42 million waste tires each year. CalRecycle’s Tire-Derived Aggregate Grant Program promotes the recycling and reuse of California-generated waste tires to keep them out of landfills or illegal dumpsites.

CalRecycle Backs Local Businesses to Increase Recycling: Local Economies Get a Green Boost from State-Local Partnership Program
SACRAMENTO – The California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery has approved nearly $4 million in new Recycling Market Development Zone (RMDZ) loans for businesses to help increase carpet and paper recycling in the state. The local business investments in Los Angeles and Placer counties are expected to create at least 35 new jobs and divert an additional 17,000 tons of carpet and paper from California landfills each year.
CalRecycle Adds Crews to Ventura County Wildfire Cleanup: First Ventura County Property Cleared for Rebuilding Following Thomas Fire
SACRAMENTO – The California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery is now managing 41 private contractor crews to clear wildfire debris from affected properties in the City of Ventura and Ventura County. An additional four crews, consisting of three to five people each, began work late last week to help remove soil, ash, metal, concrete, and other debris from properties destroyed by December’s 281,893-acre Thomas Fire.
