General

  1. Is there a possibility that the full $1,500,000 get awarded from those applications that are submitted by September 20, 2023.

Yes, there is a possibility that the full grant amount of $1,500,00 is awarded in the first cycle deadline (September 20, 2023) as we have no control over awarding funds based on applications received and will award funds to all eligible applicants until funds are exhausted. However, in the most recent grant cycles, we generally ended up having a second cycle because the funds were not exhausted in the first cycle. In this case, if the funds are not exhausted in the first cycle, a second cycle would be opened, and the deadline would be February 14th.

  1. Additionally, would it be reasonable to assume that this program will offer additional competitions in future years given its long history?

Yes, it would be reasonable as the Solid Waste Disposal and Codisposal Site Cleanup Program is over a 20-year program, and we anticipate continuing into the foreseeable future.

Eligibility

  1. Is there a place online where I can see what activities this grant would qualify for? I have Three solid waste site that are at various stages of closure. Some of them we do not have the full amount for closure so we are trying to supplement and get to being fully covered. One in particular is a landfill that was run by the County but it is on Tribal land.

Yes, there are a couple of websites that I can direct you to.

First Website: Solid Waste Disposal and Codisposal Site Cleanup Program – CalRecycle Home Page This is the homepage of the Solid Waste Disposal and Codisposal Site Cleanup Program that gives general information about the Solid Waste Program.

Second Website: Legacy Disposal Site Abatement Partial Grant Program – CalRecycle Home Page. This website will direct you to the Legacy Disposal Site Abatement Partial Grant Program homepage that provides information for the current SWC cycle (SWC 97) and previous awarded cycles.

Third Website: Notice of Funds Available: Legacy Disposal Site Abatement Partial Grant Program (FY 2023-24) – CalRecycle Home Page. This is the Notice of Funds Available (NOFA) website for the current cycle (SCW97) for the Legacy Disposal Site Abatement Partial Grant Program.
