Recycling Center Compliance Assistance
Certified recycling centers must follow California Beverage Container Recycling Program operating requirements.
The short training videos show how to comply with program rules.
Redeeming CRV
The law requires recycling centers to redeem all CRV beverage container materials during their listed hours of operation.
Payment for CRV Materials
It is illegal to pay CRV on non-CRV products like milk jugs, medical food, infant formula, cleaning product containers, or food packaging.
Logging Scrap Material
If recycling centers choose to accept non-CRV scrap material, the scrap must be properly recorded and separated from CRV containers.
Visual Inspection
Recycling centers must inspect all materials provided by customers to verify containers are eligible for CRV redemption.
Logging CRV Transactions
California’s Beverage Container Recycling Program requires recycling centers to keep detailed records of each transaction.
Payment by Count
When customers request it, California law requires recycling centers to pay CRV redemptions for up to 50 containers of each material type per transaction.
