The Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) administers a program for eligible applicants to apply for funds to pay for the cleanup of illegally dumped waste tires. CalRecycle allocated $1,250,000 for the Local Government Waste Tire Cleanup Grant Program for fiscal year (FY) 2020–21. Public Resource Code Section 42889(b)(5) authorizes CalRecycle to expend funds from the California Tire Recycling Management Fund to pay for the cost of cleanup, abatement, or other remedial actions related to the disposal of California waste tires.

Criteria
Eligibility
- California jurisdictions including cities, counties, special districts, other political subdivisions and jurisdictions joined together by formal agreements, as well as Qualifying California Indian tribes are eligible.
- Grants will not be awarded to two agencies within the same jurisdiction (example: City of Sacramento Public Works Department and City of Sacramento Health Department).
Funding
- $1,250,000 available for fiscal year (FY) 2020–21.
- $100,000/single jurisdiction applicant and $250,000/regional applicant maximum available per grant award.

These Terms and Conditions are applicable only to the specified cycle and/or Fiscal Year of the particular grant program specified.

The Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery reserves the right to make any necessary changes to the Procedures and Requirements prior to issuance of the Grant Agreement.
