Family Charged in $7.6 Million Bottle-and-Can Recycling Scheme

OAKLAND – Eight family members who run recycling centers in Riverside County face felony charges in connection to a $7.6 million, multi-state recycling fraud investigation. Agents believe the suspects illegally smuggled 178 tons of empty beverage containers from Arizona into Riverside County to defraud California’s Beverage Container Recycling Program

CalRecycle seeks input on plastic-pollution reduction rules

SACRAMENTO — CalRecycle wants industry partners, the public and all interested parties to give input as it writes the regulations for California’s Plastic Pollution Prevention and Producer Responsibility Act, SB 54 (Allen, Chapter 75, Statutes of 2022). The law requires that by 2032 most plastic packaging and plastic food ware is recycled, and that producers make 25% less of these single-use materials.

SACRAMENTO — As California develops rules to ensure the state recycles most packaging and plastic food service waste, and decreases the amount produced, interested parties can give input on regulations for Senate Bill 54 (Allen, Chapter 75, Statutes of 2022).
