CalRecycle Approves Innovative Pilot Programs for Convenient Bottle Redemption
SACRAMENTO–Redeeming bottles and cans will soon get much easier for nearly 900,000 Californians living in San Francisco and the Los Angeles County community of Culver City.
Recycled Tires Used to Repair Local Roadways
SACRAMENTO–Nineteen California communities will receive $4 million in infrastructure funding to repair local roads using some of the roughly 51 million waste tires generated in the state each year. The California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) announced the awards through its Rubberized Pavement Grant Program, which funds local road improvement projects that use recycled tires in place of traditional materials.
11 Arrested in $2 Million Recycling Fraud Scheme
SACRAMENTO–Following a four-month investigation, California has successfully disrupted a multi-million dollar recycling fraud operation that stretched from Nevada and Arizona to Los Angeles County. The California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) joined the California Department of Justice to announce the arrest of a Pacoima, Calif., recycling center operator and 10 additional suspects on charges of felony recycling fraud, conspiracy, and grand theft.
