Overview
Every year, the Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) is authorized and required by statute to consider the adequacy of the covered electronic waste (CEW) recovery and recycling payment rates. (See, Public Resources Code (PRC) sections 42477 and 42478). These rates are necessary to maintain CalRecycle’s responsibilities under the Electronic Waste Recycling Act of 2003, as amended.
On April 16, 2026, CalRecycle conducted a workshop to solicit feedback from interested parties on the proposed recovery rate.
CalRecycle will maintain the current payment rates.
- The Standard Statewide Recovery Payment Rate for all CEW remains at $0.40 per pound.
- The Standard Statewide Combined Recovery and Recycling Payment Rate for cathode-ray tube (CRT) CEW remains $1.19 per pound.
- The Standard Statewide Combined Recovery and Recycling Payment Rate for non-CRT CEW remains $1.16 per pound.
Affected Regulatory Code Sections
There are no proposed amendments to CalRecycle’s regulations because the payment rates will remain unchanged (See, Title 14, California Code of Regulations (CCR), Division 7, Chapter 8.2, sections 18660.33 and 18660.34).
Current Status
CalRecycle will maintain the current payment rates.
Current Documents
Formal rulemaking documents may be published on this webpage if CalRecycle files any proposed regulations with the Office of Administrative Law (OAL).
A copy of the presentation will be posted in advance of the workshop at the CalRecycle Public Notices.
