Eligibility
- Are California Special Districts and/or public short line freight rail common carriers eligible to apply under either the local agency or for-profit rail provider?
Eligible applicants are current Glass Processors certified by CalRecycle’s Division of Recycling.

- Are standard Recycling Centers that collect and sort empty glass beverage containers, but don’t process the glass material, eligible to apply for the Empty Glass Beverage Transportation Grant Program?
Recycling Centers are not eligible for this grant program. Applicants interested in applying for the grant program must be a current certified glass processor to be considered for funding.

- What are eligible transportation costs and personnel costs directly related to rail transportation?
Eligible transportation costs include the transportation of empty glass beverage containers via rail. Other means of transportation involving a truck or other vehicle to transport empty glass beverage containers is ineligible.
Eligible personnel costs include personnel directly related to project construction, empty glass beverage container rail transportation, and the implementation of equipment, materials, and supplies.
