SACRAMENTO–California agents arrested six suspects and are searching for a seventh in connection with a large-scale scheme to defraud the state’s bottle and can deposit program.
California’s Carpet Industry to Pay $1 Million for Recycling Failures
SACRAMENTO–The organization representing carpet manufacturers will pay the state $1,175,000 in penalties for its repeated failure from 2013 through 2016 to meet recycling and landfill diversion goals under California’s Carpet Product Stewardship Law. The settlement agreement follows a California Third District Court of Appeal ruling affirming administrative civil penalties against Carpet America Recovery Effort (CARE).
Wildfire Survivors Must Act Now to Join California’s No-cost 2020 Wildfire Cleanup Program
SACRAMENTO–Survivors whose homes were damaged in the 2020 California wildfires now have until February 1, 2021, to sign up for the government-run debris removal program. The program is also available to property owners with fire damaged trees in danger of falling on public roads and other infrastructure.
