California on track to implement nation-leading effort to slash single-use plastic and packaging waste
SACRAMENTO — CalRecycle today released key building blocks for California’s groundbreaking law to cut single-use plastic and packaging waste. Packaging makes up over 50% of what we throw away by volume and is a major contributor to climate and trash pollution.

SACRAMENTO – Los californianos pueden recibir el año nuevo de 2024 intercambiando sus envases vacíos de vino y licor por dinero. A partir del 1ro de enero, California agrega el vino y licor que es vendido en botellas, latas, cajas y bolsas al Programa de Reciclaje de Envases de Bebidas del estado para reducir el desecho y la contaminación al convertir más materiales reciclados en nuevos productos.
New in 2024: Californians can redeem empty wine and liquor containers for cash to cut trash
SACRAMENTO – Californians can ring in 2024 by redeeming their empty wine and liquor containers for cash. Starting January 1, California adds wine and liquor sold in bottles, cans, boxes, and pouches to the state’s Beverage Container Recycling Program to cut waste and pollution by turning more recycled materials into new products.
California to help communities recycle 7.7 million tons of food and yard waste
SACRAMENTO – To cut as much climate pollution as taking half-a-million cars off the road, new state support will invest $130 million to grow California industry and jobs and help communities turn food and yard waste into clean energy and compost.
