In 2019, Governor Newsom signed into law The California Recycling Market Development Act (AB 1583, Eggman, Chapter 690, Statutes of 2019). Section 42005.5 requires CalRecycle to convene by July 1, 2020, a Statewide Commission on Recycling Markets and Curbside Recycling consisting of representative of public agencies, private solid waste enterprises, and environmental organizations that have expertise in recycling.

CalRecycle will begin assembling the commission by the end of 2019. 
You can email AB1583Commission@CalRecycle.ca.gov if you are interested in contributing to the Statewide Commission or wait for the application period to begin.

  • Can commit to attend all meetings and contribute to work products outside of meeting times.  We anticipate having 6-8 meetings prior to the January 1, 2021, due date for recommendations.
  • Meetings are subject to the Bagley-Keene Open Meeting Act.
  • Travel expenses will NOT be reimbursed.
