Sign Requirements

Dealers must post a clear and conspicuous sign at least 10″x15″ at ALL public entrances to the dealer’s place of business. If there are two entrances, two signs are required. This sign must indicate the name and address of the nearest State-certified recycling center that redeems all empty beverage containers. If there is no State-certified recycling center in your neighborhood, your customers may not have a convenient place to get back the CRV. If you are an Option A dealer, you are required to post a sign stating that beverage containers may be redeemed at all open cash registers within the store or a specific location within the store such as Customer Service Desk. If you are required to redeem containers, please download the sign below or create your own following the guidelines listed above.

  • 11” x 17” (ledger-size paper)
  • 8.5” x 11” (in order to meet the minimum size requirement, please select “Landscape” in paper orientation in printer, and the sign will be printed in 2 8.5”x11” pieces of paper)

If you are not required to redeem empty containers in the store, due to the proximity of a nearby state certified recycling center, you are an Option B dealer, or your store is temporarily exempted due to SB 155, please download the sign below, and print either on 11”x17” ledger-size paper, or on two 8.5”x11” pieces of paper by selecting “landscape” in paper orientation setup in your printer:

You must include the name and address of the nearest certified recycling center in the blank box on the sign, which can be found here: www2.calrecycle.ca.gov/BevContainer/RecyclingCenters/.

If you already have a sign, frequently check to see if the information your sign displays is current.
